India has more than 200 wildlife sanctuaries and about 100 of them are classified as National Parks. Here is a list of national parks of India. The names of the national parks are organized according to the state in which they belong to. Some of the national parks are speared over many states and only one state in listed in such cases.

The landmass of India is one of the most varied in terms of its geographic features, climatic ranges and bio diversity.

Though it is the second largest populated nations in the world, India’s wild life is diverse and practically spread throughout the country.

The geographical features of India ranges anything from the deserts of Rajastan to the swamplands of Kaziranga in Assam, home to the Rhinos; from the snow covered Himalayan mountains in the north to the rain drenched tropical forests of south India; coral rife island archipelago to the riverrine valleys of the heartland.

India’s forests are home to a large number of animals including the Elephant, Tiger, Lion, Leopard and Rhinoceros, Bisons, Nilgai, Gaur, Deers, Indian Wolf, Bengal Fox, Golden Jackal, Macaques, Langurs and Mongoose.

A number of national parks operate wildlife tours for the visitors.
